In a collaboration that bridged the realms of dance, art, and neurodiversity, renowned choreographer Susan Marshall and Tony Award-winning set designer Mimi Lien came together to create an awe-inspiring dance installation known as “Rhythm Bath.” This one-of-a-kind experience, developed in close dialogue with neurodiverse individuals and communities, was a mesmerizing blend of performance and meditation that invited participants to sense the dance unfolding around them. Transcending boundaries, the “Rhythm Bath” fostered a deeper connection between the art and its audience. More than an installation, “Rhythm Bath” was an invitation to embark on a journey of sensory exploration and artistic wonder.
The world premiere of ”Rhythm Bath“ took place at the 2023 Philadelphia Fringe Festival. This inclusive dance installation was designed by a mother who wanted to create a way for the neurodiverse community to enjoy live theater. Susan and Mimi teamed up with Temple University’s Institute on Disabilities to make this theatrical experience accessible and comfortable for everyone.
